Chapter General
The Ordinary Chapter General of the Order of Malta took place on 25 and 26 April in the Magistral Palace. The meeting was convened and presided over by H.M.E.H. the Prince and Grand Master to elect the High Officers of the Order, members of the Sovereign Council and Board of Auditors. Also on the Agenda were the major problems involving the Order's activities, its spiritual and financial state, international relations and possible reforms to the Constitutional Charter and Code.

The Supreme Assembly of the Order,
having heard the report of the Receiver of the Common Treasure on the changes to be introduced in the Constitutional Charter and Code and having heard the report of the Secretary of the Strategies
Commission decreed to convene the Extraordinary Chapter General by 1996 in order to debate and approve the changes to the statutes of the Order prepared by a small commission nominated by the Sovereign Council. This commission will be supplemented by external experts as far as Canon Law and the Order's Law are concerned.
Finally, the members of the Chapter also inspected the Inventory of the Order's possessions, prepared by the Common Treasure.
The following were elected as High Officers of the Sovereign Council:
H.E. Fra' Ludwig Hoffmann von Rumerstein, Grand Commander, Knight;
H.E. Amb. Baron Felice Catalano di Melilli, Grand Chancellor;
H.E. Baron Albrecht von Boeselager, Hospitaller;
H.E. Count Carlo Marullo di Condojanni,
Receiver of the Common Treasure.
The following were elected members of the
Sovereign Council:
H.E. Comm. Fra' Renato Paternò di Montecupo;
H.E. Fra' John Edward Critien, Knight;
H.E. Fra' Norbert Kinsky de Wchynicz et
Tetow, Knight;
H.E. Fra' Carl E. Paar, Knight;
Comm. Fra' Josè-Antonio Linati-Bosch
(substitute councillor);
Nob. Carlo Arditi dei Marchesi di Castelvetere, Knight of Justice (substitute councillor).
