The Grand Commander, Fra' Ludwig Hoffman von Rumerstein.

Born in Innsbruck, Austria, 23 January 1937, elected by the Chapter General. Admitted to the Sovereign Order in 1970 as Knight of Grace and Devotion of the Grand Priory of Austria, he took his first simple vows in 1984 and his solemn profession in 1988.

A graduate in jurisprudence and a lawyer, he sits on the Commission for the Reform of the Order's Constitutional Charter and Code and is a member of the Grand Priory of Austria Chapter. Elected as substitute councillor in the Sovereign Council in 1984, he has acted as councillor in office since 1988. In 1992 he was decorated with the medal Pro Merito Melitense with the rank of Grand Officer and in 1994 the Grand Cross of Merit.
