The St. John the Baptist Hospital was established in February 1971 by A.C.I.S.M.O.M. (Association of Italian Knights of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta) which manages and administrates it.
It is situated in a well-tended corner of the great park of the Castello dei Papi in Magliana, north Rome, easily reached by private and public means.
The offices (administration, supply and Board of Directors) are in the 16th-century castle, an impressive national monument of great architectural harmony.
The actual hospital activity is mostly carried out in a large,

south-facing modern building surrounded by trees. In addition, an old lodge, annexe of the castle, has been restructured and now offers spacious and comfortable two-bedded rooms for the sick.
Great care has been taken to create a harmonious and reassuring environment for patients, with buildings immersed in pines and gardens laid out with avenues and flowerbeds.
The Order's principal aims of "the defence of the faith and the service of the poor", professed and practised with unremitting energy from its foundation, have given and continue to give a very special and unique character to this medical centre, distinguishing it from other health structures world-wide.
